E.ON Kernkraft holds a 33.3% stake in the Brunsbüttel NPP. The plant is situated on the banks of the Unterelbe River in Schleswig-Holstein's Dithmarschen district, three kilometers to the east of Brunsbüttel. The growing demand for affordable electricity on the part of neighboring industrial plants was one of the main reasons this site was chosen.
